The Ford Zephyr

The Shop

Welcome to the artomobile Shop!

All designs are hand painted. The use of monochromatic colours and simple graphic representation give it the signature look for which the artist is known. Important to keep in mind is that all images are hand painted and no two paintings are alike in color. They are all delivered in a round post pack protected with acid free paper. At this stage, framed paintings can only be delivered within Singapore.

The Ford Zephyr

150.00

Not to be confused with its US namesake, the Lincoln Zephyr, which first used the Zephyr moniker in 1936, this British designed car actually never made it to the US market. With its manufacturing origins in Britain between 1952 to 1972, the Ford Zephyr and its luxury variants, the Ford Zodiac and Ford Executive, were the largest passenger cars in the British Ford range from 1951 until their ultimate succession in 1972 by the Consul and Granada models.

This little British car was well adopted by Australia and New Zealand, being built in the Ford Factory in Geelong, Victoria, so there were plenty kicking around Aussie homes in the 6o’s and 70’s. So highly regarded was this car in the region that Ford New Zealand  introduced optional floor shift and bucket seats as alternatives to the standard column shift and bench front seat. With these and other modifications, The Ford Zephyr graduated and joined the New Zealand Police Force as the first choice for their traffic police fleet.

A sentimental favourite of Artomobile, having owned both the Mark II and the Zodiac, what I loved about driving this car was how many drivers gave me a wide berth. These cars were SOLID and even a fender bender would see the other car coming off second best!
